Sindhu-Saina to meet in semi-finals?

Olympic Silver medalist P. V. Sindhu and Olympic bronze medalist Saina Nehwal are expected to play in the semifinals of the women’s singles at the Swiss Open badminton tournament starting on Tuesday.

The event is important for the Tokyo Olympics and India relies on Sindhu and Saina in the women’s singles. In the first round, Sindhu will face Neslihan Yiğit of Turkey. Saina’s next opener will be Sung Ji-hyun of Korea. While both Sindhu and Saina performed as expected, they could be seen playing against each other in the semi-finals. Although Sindhu has qualified for the Olympics, the competition is important for Saina.

In the men’s singles, Kidambi Srikkanth and Sameer Verma will meet in the first round. In addition, H. S. Pranoy, Lakshya Sen, Ajay Jayaram, b. Saipranit will also be participating in the tournament. In the men’s doubles, Sattvik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have high hopes. Apart from that, India will play three pairs each in the women’s and mixed doubles.
