New guidelines issued for Social Media
The central government has issued new guidelines for social media. Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash javadekar and Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad issued social media guidelines at a press conference today, saying the government was serious about violating the country’s sovereignty and women’s character. It will have to be implemented in three months.
The central government has made big announcements about digital platforms and OTT platforms. The central government has issued guidelines for social media companies. Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that offensive content on social media will no longer be approved by the central government.
Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar held a press conference in this regard. Ravi Shankar Prasad said that wrong language is being used on social media. Fake news is being spread through social media. Social media is being used to spread violence. However, offensive content on social media will no longer be approved by the central government. Social will be divided into two parts, Intermediate and Significant.
Ravi Shankar Prasad said that now social media will be monitored on three levels. Companies will have to deploy three chief executives, who will handle complaints related to social media. The Central Compliance Officer, Grievance Redressal Officer and Resident Liaison Officer should be in India. His team will work 24X7.
The government will have to inform the concerned companies about who posted the offensive post on social media first. Offensive posts related to women must be deleted by the concerned companies within 24 hours. Companies will have to report to the government every month on compliance with the rules. Also, complaints have to be resolved within 15 days, said Ravi Shankar Prasad.
